My latest illustration(s) for Belfast’s Quarter Beat, all about the various festivals happening over the next few months in the city.
If you live in Belfast head over to any of the great cafes or pubs and find yourself a wee copy.

I was recently comissioned by the wonderful Anorak Magazine, to illustrate a story written by a 7-year-old called Rhianwen. It’s a great issue, with fantastic illustration a plenty (as always!), you can buy a copy here, or pick one up in any good book store.

David McMillan and Jayde Perkin both graduated from the UWE Illustration course (Bristol) last year. Then came post-university / post-graduation / post-summer life, and after the rat-race of finding new roofs for their heads, finding jobs to fund the rent on those roofs and ultimately finding their feet - Dave and Jayde started ‘Trial Shift’.
Dave works in a bar in the evenings, and Jayde works in a cafe in the day-time, Dave spends his days in the studio working on commissions and projects, where as Jayde works on her creative endeavours when the sun has gone down.
The point of ‘Trial Shift’ is not only a vehicle for experimentation (playing around and taking risks isn’t always easy/a good idea whilst liaising with an art director who is paying you money…!), but this is our way of illustrating our realities of juggling part-time work whilst trying to pursue a career in something which you whole-heartedly-love.
'Trial Shift' went a bit stale (the last post was in September!), commissions/ new projects/ internships happened, and Trial Shift was left by the waste-side a little. But new adventures were embarked upon. So here we are again, clean slates, new leaves, fresh eyes.
This one is from Jayde, tomorrow’s will be from Dave - watch this space!

PS Trial Shift will be available in its full printed glory at this years ELCAF with Jazz Dad Books

Myself and some other lovely illustrator folk have started a blog to document all the silly drawings and doodles we do on a weekly basis at ‘drink and draw’ (which is as self-explanatory as it sounds, meeting up with great people, having a few drinks in t’pub, and drawing!)

Check out the blog, and if you’re Bristol-based, then get in touch and come along to the next one!
